The web based platform organic-farmknowledge.org aimed at filling the gap in the exchange of information between farmers across Europe was launched in October 2016 within the project OK-Net Arable. The complexity of organic farming requires farmers to have a very high level of knowledge and skills. But exchange on organic farming techniques remains limited. We have therefore been working together with partners across Europe to bring you the web-based platform organic-farmknowledge.org to promote exchange of knowledge among farmers, farm advisers and scientists.
The platform is available and in use with practical testing videos and all other type of materials for arable farmers. Some of the topics go as follows:
- Soil quality and fertility
- Nutrient management
- Pest and disease control
- Weed management
- Cropping systems and crop specific
- Animal health
- Pigs
- Broiler
- Layers
An important development is that several Horizon 2020 and CORE Organic projects have joined the platform and want to use it to disseminate their practice-oriented output. These include LIVESEED (Improve performance of organic agriculture by boosting organic seed and plant breeding efforts across Europe), RELACS (Replacement of Contentious Inputs in organic farming Systems), ReMIX (Redesigning European cropping systems based on species MIXtures) and all recent CORE Organic projects (Coordination of European Transnational Research in Organic Food and Farming Systems).
Furthermore, it is planned to provide information about advisory services in each of the countries represented in the projects.
